Since charming audiences in 1987′s “The Princess Bride,” both Carey Elwes and Robin Wright have been very active acting in both film and television. Both have seen their careers span several decades and show no signs of slowing down.
48-year-old Elwes has starred in the torture-horror “Saw” movie franchise, playing the lead in the original in 2004 and starring again in “Saw 3D” in 2010. Since 2009, he has had a recurring guest role on the USA Network’s detective show, “Psych.” Most recently, Elwes has been tapped to play the character of Henry Johns, CEO Themyscira Industries, in a “Wonder Woman” television pilot for the fall of 2011.
In 2000, Elwes married photographer Lisa Marie Kurbikoff. The couple has a daughter, Dominique, who was born on April 24, 2007.
Wright, now 45, earned critical praise and award nominations for her role as Jenny Curran in the 1994 Best Picture Oscar winner, “Forrest Gump.” Recently she has filmed two book adaptation movies that will be released in late 2011 – “Moneyball” and “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” In addition to her acting work, she also is the national campaign spokesperson for the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.
Wright was married to actor Sean Penn from 1996 to 2010. During this time, she went by the professional name “Robin Wright Penn,” but dropped the “Penn” from her name after their divorce was finalized in 2010. The couple have two children together: daughter Dylan, born on April 13, 1991 and son Hopper, born on August 6, 1993.
In 2008, Wright reprised her role as Princess Buttercup for “The Princess Bride” PC and Mac video game, providing voice work. Elwes did not provide voice work for the character of Westley, however. The role is played by actor Braden Lynch in the video game.
